The expander engine needs only one ignition system; it operates on flammable gas and can be activated several times. For regulation the expander engine has bypass valves to reduce the gas supply to the turbines (see Appendix G, Fig. 1). One valve between the turbine and chamber valve on the hydrogen side mainly controls the combustion pressure.
