Materials and methods Sampling Marginal increment ratio analysis A total of 430 specimens were used in the study, most of them were collected from the Lhasa River, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River system of the Tibet, China. Sampling was carried out monthly from April in 2004 to September in 2006 by purchasing at local fish markets and catching by gill net. The collection time was centralized during the last fifteen days of every month. Conventional biological measurements for specimens were carried out on fresh fish.
